Completed in 1930 and resembling a gothic cathedral, Sterling Memorial Library is the largest of Yale’s libraries. As part of the Library’s Nave Restoration and Renovation Project, a custom interior wayfinding system was designed and implemented to consistently identify major destinations and improve overall navigation. The bronze and glass sign system creatively incorporates elements of the building’s architectural details into its design; major room signs in particular feature unique border treatments based on each room’s distinct ornamental motifs.
